Wisdom Induction

We praise God in our victories and honour Him for He is faithful and good, but how do we handle ourselves when terror stares at us and all the good things are removed from us? Does He still remain to be God All powerful who is just in all that he does? Or do we let our foolishness seperate us from His love? Do we mock God in our idle talk? Or do we worship Him as we plead for His forgiveness?

Lets consider Job and apply these to our lives:

At the beginning God testified for Job, He calls him blameless, upright, God fearing and shuns evil. But after the pain we realise that His wisdom is wanting.

Job couldn’t understand why he was going through this kind of pain despite being devoted to God Almighty he was also upright and righteous. He defended his character no matter what his friends tried to reason with him. He had become self absorbed.

The only thing Job wished for was to talk to God. In chapter 13:20-23 Job says, “Only grant me these two things, God, and then i will not hide from you. Withdraw your hand far from me and stop frightening me with terrors. Then summon me and i will answer, or let me speak and you reply to me. How many wrongs and sins have i committed? Show me my offence and sin.

God indeed heard and answered him in chapter 38:2 God spoke from the storm and asks,” who is these that obsecures my plan with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man, i will question and you shall answer me. He also asks him in Job 40:8 “Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?” Job must have been in a tight spot.

Job ultimately repents for contending with God and speaking of things that he had no understanding of. He testifies that he had only heard of God but through his pain he had seen Him with his own eyes. Job 42:1-6

May God help us to understand that nothing happens to us without His knowledge or will. He knows just how much we can bear and He will never let us be tested beyond our strength. His grace is always sufficient.

Before God spoke to Job a young man by the name of Elihu who had been following their back and forth discussion became so angry and irritated by Job’s insistent on blaming God instead of himself and he challenged Job’s wisdom.

Elihu felt that he could no longer hold back, he felt like a wine skin ready to burst. He couldnt keep silent any longer. Being fair and with no flattery he presented his argument guided by God’s spirit and full of wisdom. Job 32,33,34,35,36,37

Elihus Argument:

🔹God is greater than any mortal.

🔹He speaks in one way or another but we do not always perceive it. He speaks in dreams and visions in our sleep to relay warnings.

🔹He speaks to turn us away from wrongdoing.

🔹He speaks to keep us from sin and pride.

🔹He speaks to preserve us from the pit and perishing by the sword.

🔹God is fair, just and nothing is hidden from Him.

🔹God gives us chance after chance to be saved from the death and be brought into the light that brings life.

🔹Never argue like a wicked man, always acknowledge your sin and ask God to help you rectify what you did wrong.

🔹The evil or good we do only affects other humans and not God. Job 35: 8

🔹The prayers of proud and evil people go unaswered and God considers them empty. Job 35:12-13

🔹Godless people are too angry to ask God for help when he punishes them and end up dying young in shamefull death Job 36:13-14

🔹God desires to bring us out of distress, to bring us to a spacious place full of comfort and set the table for us with our favourite foods.

🔹Your wealth and efforts cannot sustain you while in distress.

🔹God’s power is unlimited he needs no teachers to guide and correct him.

🔹The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power.

🔹People revere God for He does not have any regard for the proud in heart but only the humble.

Insights about the kind of wisdom Elihu poised and what we need.

🔹Wisdom comes from the Lord and so do common sense and understanding. Prov 2:6. It is the Spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty that gives them understanding. Job 32:8

🔹To God belongs wisdom and power, counsel and understanding are His. Job 12:13

🔹There is no wisdom, no insight no plan that can succeed against the Lord. Prov 21:30

🔹God’s wisdom is pure, friendly, gentle, sensible, kind, helpful, genuine and sincere. James 3:17

🔹Wisdom is reflected by a good life and and good deeds done in humility.James 3:13

🔹Wisdom preserves us from calamity and disaster. Prov 1:33

🔹Any kind of wisdom that brings chaos and disorder in your life is unspiritual and ungodly. James 3:15

🔹It’s not only the old who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right. Job 32:9

It’s my prayer that we may desire and attain the wisdom from God Almighty.

Shalom🙏
